Down a staff member because of the hiring freeze, Jake continued to provide outstanding support for the athletic department’s 300-plus student-athletes relying on his office to provide treatment for injuries and aches. The pandemic forced Jake into becoming an expert on sorting out conflicting directives from the NCAA, the CDC and Maine CDC and was instrumental in writing the return-to-play guidelines that allowed Mariners athletes to practice and compete safely during a pandemic. With plenty on his plate already, he supported the health center’s operations and served as a contact tracer.

Honestly for their contact tracing, testing efforts alone they deserve all the accolades, but they also did their usual jobs supporting needy coaches and providing AT for our student athletes on top of that. Remarkable.
