Even when COVID shut down campus last March, a number of CFRD’s student volunteers stayed in town for the rest of the semester and throughout the summer to provide fire protection and medical services to the town of Castine. Without them, the town would have been in a severe deficit of firefighters and medical responders. Throughout the year, CFRD’s students provided critical medical coverage and fire protection for not only Castine but the surrounding peninsula communities.
