Welcome to the 2026 Regimental Awards Ceremony! During this event, we will recognize the superior accomplishments of our Midshipmen and celebrate their vision, effort, and tenacity. Award recipients have demonstrated a path to success for their peers and serve as models for others to follow while attempting to duplicate their achievements. This year, 91 students are being recognized with various individual scholarship awards, plaques, uniform ribbons, coins, a naval sword, and leadership program completion certificates.
The 2026 Regimental Awards Ceremony was held on April 13, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. (ET) in the Field House. This hybrid event was available to in-person attendees and livestreamed on YouTube.
The Bangor Seadogs Chapter of the Maine Maritime Academy Alumni Association awards two $500.00 scholarships based on academic performance and leadership abilities.
Winners: Holden Nichols and Aimee Sala
The Sea Coast Alumni Chapter Scholarships are comprised of two awards. The two scholarships are the Captain Thomas Smith Scholarship Award of $500 given to the Cadet Master and the Paul Mercer Scholarship Award of $500 given to the Cadet Chief Engineer.
Winners: Bethany Ives and Cort Lefebrve
The Justin and Barbara Cooper Band and Drill Team Award recognizes a Midshipman with a $500.00 scholarship who has gone above and beyond for their band and drill members and has displayed strong leadership example for others emulate.
Winner: Jacob Lalumandier
The Castine Veteran’s Association Veteran Leadership Award recognizes a Midshipman with a $500.00 scholarship who is also a military veteran who has gone above and beyond for their fellow shipmates, displays professionalism, and sets a strong leadership example for others emulate.
Winner: Leland Seggerman
The Portland Marine Society will award four $3,000.00 scholarships based on academic performance and leadership abilities.

Winners: Scott Almquist, Claire MacDonald, Margret Sledge, Isaiah Kafrissen
The class of 72’ is an ardent supporter of MMA students annually providing eight $1,250 honor scholarships in memory of their deceased classmates to deserving regimental students, to inspire them and alumni classes to “pay it forward” to even more students into the future.
Winners: Hatcher Brower, James Brubeck, Caitlyn Lamb, Aiden Clark, Dylan Evans, Jaden Knight, Maxen Lucas, and Kieran Wilkins
The Regimental Alumni Development Award is awarded to the student who exemplifies regimental values and displays diligence in the Marine Engineering program. A perpetual plaque hangs in Curtis Hall with each year’s recipient name engraved on a brass plate.
Artec Machine Systems and the Amendola Family classes of 86’ and 15’ are proud to present the Regimental Alumni Development Award.
This annual award now, in its 12th year at MMA represents the pride we have for this Academy and the Maritime Community. The academy has given our family so much, and we look at this award as a small way to give something back.
Without question MMA produces some of the finest maritime professionals the industry has ever known.
The recipient of this award receives a $750.00 award as well as the opportunity to attend a 2-day hands on reduction gear training seminar with all expenses paid valued at approximately $2,000.00.
This biennial event shall be hosted and administered by Artec Machine Systems in April of 2025 in Artec’s headquarters in North Branford, CT.
Winner: Cooper Parlee
The Admiral Warren C. Hamm Award and $1,000 scholarship was started by Admiral Hamm, ’49 to recognize a student who exemplifies the traits of leadership, accountability, and loyalty. This particular award is reserved for a 3/C Midshipmen. Each year, the recipient’s name is engraved on a brass plate and is added to a perpetual plaque that hangs in Curtis Hall.
Winner: Dakota Fahey
The Lester R. Paton Naval Leadership Sword is presented to a 2/C or 1/C Midshipman who continuously looks to further the goals and mission of the Regiment, regardless of rank or responsibility.
Winner: Thomas Murray
The Eugene J. Silva Award and $1,000 scholarship is given to a First Class Midshipman of any rank who demonstrates the qualities of leadership and character as described by Eugene J Silva ’64. These qualities include personal honor, integrity, courage, truthfulness, fidelity to principle, self-disciplined, inspirational, tenacious, tough, fair, and caring in the treatment of those in his/her charge. In short, the leader who inspires others to follow shall be the recipient of this award. Each year, the recipient’s name is engraved on a brass plate and is added to a perpetual plaque that hangs in Curtis Hall.
Winner: Margaret Archibald
Recipients of the Wedge Scholarship Award and $500 scholarship are nominated by the outgoing wedge in recognition of a rising Midshipman who is taking the utmost advantage of leadership opportunities within the Regiment of Midshipman.
Winner: Margret Sledge
