4/3/20 | Message from the President

Dear Faculty and Students,

We are just days in to a whole new world of delivering Maine Maritime Academy courses remotely, and I realize it’s early to comment on how it’s all going. However, I want to commend our faculty for taking on the challenges of a swift move to remote instruction. I also want to acknowledge the great extent to which the faculty teamed up together with other members of the staff to ensure that all would be able to move their courses online this week. I am very impressed by what seems, by all accounts, to be a smooth transition, all in just a matter of days.

I also want to applaud our students for keeping up with the steep learning curve as you shift to managing all of your classwork via virtual platforms. You may be feeling some disappointment with not being able to continue your studies as originally planned. You may also have some challenges to overcome as your coursework progresses. Please contact your professors with any issues you have so they may be resolved. Reach out to Student Services and to your classmates, too. Lean on each other, and help one another, we are in this together.

There are five more weeks of work to be done to complete this semester. I urge you all to stay focused on your work, keep safe, and keep in touch.  I thank you for demonstrating the strength of the Mariner spirit during this unprecedented time in the Academy’s history.

Sincerely,
Dr. William J. Brennan
President
