Gary Lapham holds a B.S. from the University of Maine, an M.S. from the University of New Hampshire, and a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He was a post-doctoral fellow at Boston College where he worked on applied mathematics problems in atmospheric fluid dynamics in conjunction with the Air Force Research Scholar program.
Dr. Lapham enjoyed a career as a research scientist before full-time academia. His research focus was in applied mathematics and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and he has considerable experience in parallel computing. Professor Lapham has taught at the University of New Hampshire as well as Maine Maritime Academy.
Dr. Lapham has varied research interests in applied mathematics, fluid mechanics, and computational science. He maintains a laboratory in the ABS building where he studies the physics of spray.
