This morning the day began with a faculty and senior officer meeting. By midmorning we arrived at TS Kennedy’s first anchorage, located off Tampa, FL. We are gaining a ton of great experience and each beginning to get more comfortable with anchoring procedures. Upon arrival in Tampa, we completed anchoring training evolutions and switched to our final anchorage for the day.
With each day that passes we are continue to build skills in watch standing, anchoring, equipment testing, safety equipment, LSA, and practice everything we learn during drills. Many of us have been completing celestial navigation tasks such as star fixes and azimuths of the sun – the weather has been great for observations! Meanwhile, engine cadets have been able to receive valuable training on maneuvering.
