Special 4th of July post

These last few days the M/V State of Maine had the honor of participating in the Sail250 Celebration out of New York City.  Both the Training ship and the Schooner Bowdin (Maine Maritime’s Schooner loaned from the State) could be seen from the parade grounds as tall ships, planes, tugs, and warships passed between.  Cadets onboard got up close views of the flyovers as the planes passed right overhead.

This once-in-a-lifetime experience is something that I, myself, and all other crew and cadets won’t forget any time soon.  As I am writing this, we are outbound on our way back north to Boston for three days, then finishing off the summer sea term in Castine.  Everyone on board is excited to see friends and family again soon.
