June 12
Beautiful weather with clear skies as Bowdoin rose 6ft in the lock and proceeded on through the St Peters Swing Bridge to make our way through the windy, narrow waterway leading us to the Bras D’Or Lake. We are following history as MacMillan made this very trip through the lakes heading north. In fact, his first voyage as a youngster was made with his father to these lakes. Today the crew is focused on learning terrestrial navigation using bearings ashore to fix our position on the chart. We look forward to the Alexander Graham Belle Museum, and a night alongside in Baddeck ahead.
Sincerely,
Capt Alex Peacock
