Bowdoin went to shipyard this week for regular maintenance. We haul out the vessel at Front street Shipyard in Belfast Maine. There will be lots of sanding and painting this week with the focus on getting the below water line hull prepped and painted. We will be replacing the zinc anodes that protect the metal parts of the vessel from galvanic corrosion, and getting maintenance done for out propeller.
Our students will be learning all the ins and outs of shipyard work. Project planning, sanding prep, painting, thru-hull valve maintenance, and making sure we get all the details right that make and keep the Bowdoin looking great.
