2021 Training Cruise B-2

Day 29: Migrating Pelicans

Posted on: December 19, 2021

Engineering and deck students worked to prepare the TSSOM for departure, including tests conducted with the engine clutch as part of the pre-departure. Once all was prepared, we took on the pilot at 1500 for our departure.

All of the commands given are recorded in a log. They may be referenced in the unlikely event of an incident, but above all, logging the commands serves as a learning experience for members of the watch and training company that take the helm during pilotage.

A flock of pelicans circled overhead as we passed through the busy port, sending us off in true Florida style.
