Academics
Spring 2021 classes began remote instruction on Monday, January 11; remote instruction continued through Friday, January 22. The week of January 25 was used as a transition period for students to return to Castine and no classes were held during that time. Face-to-face instruction began on Monday, February 1.
We are planning for multiple scenarios that may occur throughout the Spring 2021 semester, including various options for in-person and remote instruction, and will be ready to pivot as needed.
Registration for Spring 2021 classes began on November 1, 2020. For more information about your class schedule, please contact the Office of the Registrar at registrar@mma.edu or 207-326-2441.
The revised Academic Calendar for the 2020-2021 academic year is now finalized with spring dates. Spring semester classes begin on January 11, 2021.

- Saturday, March 13 (if a second snow day occurs on or before March 12)

TSSOM Cruise #1
The 2021 Training Ship State of Maine cruise for the classes of 2021 and 2023 will begin on April 10 and conclude on May 16. Port calls and specific schedule details will be finalized and posted as they are determined. Upon completion of the Cruise, the class of 2021 will remain in Castine to complete USCG Exams and the class of 2023 will begin their Cadet Shipping assignments. If you have questions about this training cruise, please contact Capt. John Cashman by email at john.cashman@mma.edu or phone: 207-326-2293.
Commencement
The current plan is that Commencement will occur on May 22, 2021 and will likely be a non-traditional ceremony. Should that be the case, MMA will consider alternatives to recognize our graduates in person, including offering a recognition ceremony of some type for the class of 2021 before the end of the spring term.
