Evening Captain’s Report

Good evening from the Bowdoin.

All remains well aboard. Today was a welcome change of pace as we shifted our anchorage to Southwest Harbor, tucking in beside the U.S. Coast Guard Station. The morning began with our usual routine, deck wash, daily maintenance, and a few systems checks to keep things running smoothly.

Once chores were wrapped, we focused on small boat training and operations getting everyone up to speed on how to operate the small inflatable boat Bowdoin carries on deck. This is vital training as the small boat serves not just as a way of getting ashore but also as our rescue boat. It is critical that we cross-train all onboard in every area for safe and continued operations.

By midday, we began running teams ashore for provisions, and a little well-earned time on land. The crew made the most of it grabbing dinner, snacks, supplies, and of course, ice cream.

A huge thank you once again to Kristin Kellas, who generously helped us with provisioning runs and gave the crew a lift to town. This is the kind of support vessels need while ashore.

Stay tuned for updates on the next leg of the voyage.

Sincerely,
Capt. Peacock
