We had a great first day sailing Bowdoin south, down East Penobscot Bay. With a 15 to 20 knot breeze from the south, the crew completed 15 tacks to get the vessel to its anchorage in Pulpit Harbor on North Haven Island. The student crew are now reviewing what they learned during recent celestial navigation classes before we depart on our offshore passage to Nova Scotia later this afternoon.
