Dear Friends,
We have gone another day! After hauling anchor in Blue Hill Harbor, we made our way to Rockland for the night. Today was different than the days before as we relied more on the students to bring the boat there. After getting the anchor hauled up, the students charted out a track line for us to use as we sailed back. This is the first time many of them have had the chance to decide how to bring a vessel from one place to another, as well as a first for critical thinking about what obstacles may be in our way or in our favor.
While underway we conducted another man overboard drill, as well as a fire/abandon ship drill after anchoring in Rockland’s harbor. All crew donned survival suits and can be seen smiling in the photo below (also on the the Maine Maritime Academy Instagram).
