CASTINE, Maine—The Board of Trustees of Maine Maritime Academy will hold a regular quarterly meeting on Thursday, November 7, 2019. The Board will meet as a Committee of the Whole to conduct committee business beginning at 9:00 a.m., with a break for lunch between 12:00 noon and 1:00 p.m., and convene later in the afternoon as the Board to take formal action. The meeting is expected to conclude at 4:00 p.m.
Open Boat Hours on Thursday and Friday, September 26-27, 2019
CASTINE, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy’s schooner Bowdoin, a National Historic Landmark and the Official Vessel of the State of Maine, will visit Boothbay Harbor on Thursday and Friday, September 26-27. Schooner Bowdoin will moor at Boothbay Harbor Oceanside Golf Resort (35 Atlantic Ave) and will be open to the public from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 26 and from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 27. Boat tours are rain or shine, open to the public, and free of charge.
CASTINE, Maine—William J. Brennan, President of Maine Maritime Academy (MMA), has announced that the college has hired Captain John Cashman to serve as Commandant of Midshipmen. Captain Cashman relieved Captain Nathan Gandy in a Change of Command Ceremony on August 26, 2019. Gandy has been promoted to the position of Dean of Maritime Training.
PORTLAND, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy, in cooperation with Maine’s congressional delegation, will host an informational workshop for prospective students and their parents to learn about admission to Federal and other service academies on Thursday, September 12, 2019 in Portland. The workshop, offered free of charge and open to the public, will be presented at the Clarion Hotel, located at 1230 Congress Street in Portland from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

CASTINE, Maine – William J. Brennan, President of Maine Maritime Academy (MMA), announced today that the college has completed the purchase of a four-acre parcel of land at the former Verso paper mill in Bucksport from owners American Iron and Metal (AIM). The site will be the new Maine Maritime Academy Center for Professional Mariner Development (CPMD), an annex facility that will provide specialized courses for professional mariners, academy-enrolled students, and workforce development. For professional mariners, the Center will meet the demand for courses that enable mariners to receive certification and credentialing to meet maritime regulatory and industry-sector demands.Read More…

CASTINE, Maine – The International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA) will be hosting the 38th annual Guild School at Maine Maritime Academy from June 8-14. CASTINE, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy students, officers, and crew will depart Castine on Wednesday, May 8 at approximately 2:00 p.m. on the Training Ship State of Maine (TSSOM) for the annual training evolution to foreign and domestic ports of call. This year’s itinerary includes stops in Vigo and Barcelona, Spain; Portsmouth, England; Tallinn, Estonia; Oslo, Norway; Boston, Massachusetts; and Searsport, Maine. Schedule and ports are subject to change.
