Foremost Group Founder and Chairman Recognized for Lifetime of Leadership in Maritime Commerce, Education, and Philanthropy
NEW YORK, N.Y. — Maine Maritime Academy has conferred an Honorary Doctorate upon Dr. James S. C. Chao, Founder and Chairman of Foremost Group, during a special ceremony at Foremost Group’s headquarters in Manhattan.
Dr. Chao is recognized for a lifetime of achievement in maritime transportation, business leadership, education, philanthropy, and public service. Dr. Jennifer Waters assumes the role after decades of teaching and leadership at SUNY Maritime College and the U.S. Naval Academy
CASTINE, ME – Maine Maritime Academy, a globally recognized leader in maritime education and training, has welcomed Dr. Jennifer Waters as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost. With over 30 years of experience in academia and academic leadership, Dr. Waters has had a distinguished career, recently serving as the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at SUNY Maritime. Prior to that, Dr. Waters was the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the U.S. Naval Academy, where she worked for over 25 years.Read More…

PHILADELPHIA, PA – On August 26, Maine Maritime Academy, the U.S. Maritime Administration (MARAD), Hanwha Philly Shipyard, and TOTE Services celebrated the christening of the State of Maine, the third of five cutting-edge National Security Multi-Mission Vessels (NSMV), at Hanwha Philly Shipyard. The State of Maine will serve as the next generation training ship at the Academy, supporting both the academic development of cadets and federal humanitarian relief efforts in response to natural disasters.Read More…
