Maine Maritime Academy Training Ship to Depart May 10 for European Ports

CASTINE, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy students, officers, and crew will depart Castine on Thursday, May 10 at approximately 1:00 p.m. on the Training Ship State of Maine (TSSOM) for the annual training evolution to foreign and domestic ports of call. This year’s itinerary includes stops in Cadiz, Spain; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Lisbon, Portugal; Civitavecchia, Italy; and Alicante, Spain. Schedule and ports are subject to change.Read More…

Maine Maritime Academy Commencement Set for Saturday, May 5, 2018

CASTINE, Maine—The 2018 Commencement will be held at Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday, May 5 at 11 a.m. at the Alexander Field House. Maritime Administrator, Rear Adm. Mark H. Buzby, USN, Ret. will be the college’s Commencement speaker.

Rear Adm. Buzby was sworn in as Maritime Administrator on August 8, 2017 following appointment by the President and confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Prior to his appointment, Buzby served as president of the National Defense Transportation Association, a position he held after retiring from the U.S. Navy in 2013 with over 34 years of service.Read More…

BANGOR, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy, in cooperation with Maine’s U.S. Congressional Delegation, will host an informational workshop for prospective students and their parents to learn about admission to Federal service academies on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in Bangor. The workshop, offered free of charge and open to the public, will be presented at the Hilton Garden Inn, 250 Haskell Road in Bangor from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
