Day 52: E-Motor

Posted on: June 27, 2018

Another average day in the Mediterranean Sea started with a beautiful sunrise and a tasty breakfast from Sodexo. Deck maintenance continued today with the painting of rails and deck around the two-rescue boats onboard. Engine maintenance was busy readying the engine room for special operations. Instead of using the main engine for propulsion this afternoon,  TSSOM was run using the electric motor. This was run for testing purposes. The E-motor is used in the unlikely case of an engine failure onboard. To run this, however, all three Ship Service Diesel Generators (SSDG) must be used.

Alpha company continued work on utility cleaning the ship today. Charlie Company learned how to test watertight doors to ensure that no water could get through if we were to hit rough weather. Delta company had the watch today, continuing to navigate the ship west toward Spain.
