Students and crew alike are glad to be underway again, especially the juniors, who are just beginning their cruise. The ship got underway without a hitch, Charlie Company releasing the mooring lines and keeping anchor watch until we left the channel. A beautiful sunny afternoon was complemented with a gentle, rolling swell, allowing midshipmen to get their sea-legs back after an extended port stay. Anticipation is building for some foul weather in the near future, and everyone on board is busy ensuring that their gear is stowed for sea.
- Some more unique ‘line handling’ on the fantail
- Bravo Company midshipmen relax while underway
- The deck maintenance crew disassembles the gangway once it’s been brought on deck
- 4/C Larrabee and Hoffman hoist the Hotel flag, signifying that a pilot is on board
- Charlie Company hauls in the mooring lines as we prepare to get underway
- The pilot disembarks onto the tug to return to shore
