Our first full day underway and the work is picking up. Everyone seems happy to be away from the tedium that goes with preparations to sail. The 4 companies of students will complete four-day blocks of activity before rotating to the next assignment. Check the 2015 Company Rotation Schedule (under Manual, Rotation Schedule, & Links) if you would like to follow along and know what your student is doing each day.
We weighed anchor around 1300 and are proceeding down the bay in the eastern channel. We expect to be in Whale Area North by morning so our speed will be reduced and the lookouts will be working hard.
NOTE: Track the Ship is back up and running!
- Preparing to load final stores before departing Castine.
- Morning Formation. The Regimental Commander passes information for the day.
- Plotting our course down the bay.
- 2/C Engineers reviewing start-up procedures in the EOS while our automation contractor continues to work on automation controls.
- Checking the numbers from the last round of readings.
- Helmsman at the ready as we weigh anchor.
- Keeping the lifeboat davits greased so they move smoothly if needed!
- There is a little time to relax. We haven’t heard him sing but he can play!
