Although the wind has picked up, we spend most of the day sheltered by the Azores as we navigated a somewhat serpentine track through the islands to allow the 2/C some time honing their pilotage skills. By 1700 we had cleared the islands and started making our way to the NE.

- Charlie 4/C DiGuglielmo, Cronin, and Clayton work on their chart plotting skills under the supervision of training officer Fader.
- Delta 4/C deck maintenance groups labor with small links of chain to remove old paint from the hand rails. 4/C Bradley and 4/C Bernier in particular work with intensity to see who can remove the most paint the fastest.
- 2/C McAfee receives instruction from Miss Osborne on how to properly take salt water ballast soundings. We take salt water ballast soundings every morning on the TSSOM.
- Never missing an opportunity, 4/C Cronin fishes off the fantail in the Azores.
