The Master’s & Commander Curriculum

Pre-Requisites:
A BACHELOR’S DEGREE (B.A. or B.S) from an accredited institution is required. Please see the “Admissions Requirements & Procedures” link for additional policy information.

A total of 78 credit hours over two years of graduate and undergraduate courses are required to complete the Master’s and Commander Program. Master’s and Commander students will be eligible to complete the USCG exam for a 200 Gross Ton Mate Near Coastal license.

The Masters of Science degree (Maritime Management) and the opportunity to sit for the 200-ton United States Coast Guard exam credits shall be earned as follows:

36 Graduate credits from the fully accredited Online program as described below. The Online program is a trimester program. New Trimesters begin in September, January and May. Students may take one or two courses per trimester. The sequence of courses may not follow any particular order.
