Brennan has announced that Michael Young of Ellsworth, a ’77 graduate and previous instructor at the college, has been hired to develop new courses and programs to prepare students for jobs in offshore industries. CASTINE, Maine–Maine Maritime Academy recently named 380 students to the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement in the first semester of the 2014-2015 academic year. Students named to the Dean’s List earn a grade point average of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale.

It is the first accreditation of an online degree program for Maine Maritime Academy and the Loeb-Sullivan School.
CASTINE, Maine—At a quarterly meeting on Friday, November 7, the Maine Maritime Academy Board of Trustees welcomed Robert J. Peacock II for a renewed 5-year term as Chair. Two new appointees also joined the Board of Trustees: Mr. Miles Theeman and Captain Wendy Morrison (Class of 1985). All trustees are appointed by the governor and serve a 5-year term.
CASTINE, Maine—Dr. William J. Brennan, President of Maine Maritime Academy, announced today that the college will receive $3.4 million in gifts from the Harold Alfond Foundation to support two major initiatives at the college. The Foundation will give $1 million toward the construction of the ABS Center for Engineering, Science, and Research, and $2.4 million for the establishment of the Harold Alfond Engineering Scholarship for engineering students.

CASTINE, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy Professor of Engineering, Paul Wlodkowski, Ph.D. of Ellsworth, has received a Fulbright Scholarship to advance international exchange in engineering education. Professor Wlodkowski will conduct research and teach engineering courses in both English and Russian at the Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping in St. Petersburg, Russia for six months. Wlodkowski’s project is titled, “Advancing Global Engineering Education Through a Maritime Lens.”
