“War Talks” Series Kicks Off With Peter Davis’ Award-winning Vietnam War Film, October 11

CASTINE, Maine—Filmmaker and writer Peter Davis will introduce and discuss his film Hearts and Minds (1974), the Oscar-winning documentary on the Vietnam War, on Wednesday, October 11, at 7:00 p.m. at the Maine Maritime Academy Alfond Student Center. Davis’s talk and film is the first of five “War Talks” on the human experience of wars around the globe hosted by the MMA Arts and Sciences Department in conjunction with the course, Documenting War Around the World. All events are free and open to the public.

PORTLAND, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy, in cooperation with Maine’s congressional delegation, will host an informational workshop for prospective students and their parents to learn about admission to Federal service academies on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in Portland. Schooner Bowdoin Sets Sail for Educational Cruises in the Canadian Maritimes

CASTINE, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy’s schooner Bowdoin, a National Historic Landmark and the Official Vessel of the State of Maine, will be home to three groups of students in the Vessel Operations and Technology program this summer. Students will be sailing coastwise and offshore as part of sail training courses during which they learn to navigate and maintain the vessel to fulfill degree requirements and competencies toward a U.S. Coast Guard limited license.Read More…

MMA Alumnus, Will McLean, to Captain Schooner Bowdoin

CASTINE, Maine—Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) Marine Operations Manager, Dana Willis, has announced that MMA alumnus, Will McLean, has accepted the position of Master of Schooner Bowdoin, the Official Vessel of the State of Maine.
