This week the demolition phase of the Bowdoin deck replacement project began in earnest. The team at Andros Kypragoras Shipbuilding has made quick work of taking out the old deck, and Lyman Morse did a great job of removing the main engine and generator, both of which are headed back to the Academy to be re-built with the help of students over the winter. If you look closely, you can see that today the port chainplates came off – we estimate that its been thirty years since that wood last saw the light of day!
