We were excited to have VOT student Hila Shooter working alongside us over the Thanksgiving break. With her help, the engine room looks a whole lot cleaner than before!
- Hila works to pull spikes from the top timbers.
- This view is starting to look more familiar.
- This lumber is almost ready to be shaped into new top timbers.
- This is where the Sampson posts used to reside.
- If you look closely, you can see where the exhaust used to be.
- The fuel tanks received a thorough inspection this week, and passed with flying colors.
- We are excited to begin planing the new planking next week.
- Notice something missing from this shot?
- The battens running along the top timbers will help us preserve the boat’s shape as we begin to replace all of the top timbers.
- With additional planks removed, we’ll be able to replace a couple of the frame heads that were looking worn.
- Its really challenging to get the whole boat in one frame.
- Netting on the scaffolding keeps passerby safe.
- The deck can’t wait to get onboard!
