Robert B. Dickinson ’06
Rob Dickinson, 50, passed away Friday, July 25, 2008, at Millinocket Regional Hospital. He was born Sept. 29, 1957, son of Robert G. and Joan L. (Jardine) Dickinson.
Rob grew up in Millinocket and was a graduate of Stearns High School, Class of 1976. Rob attended Defiance College, Ohio. He was employed by Great Northern Paper Co., for 26 years, beginning as a papermaker apprentice and rising to the position of manager of safety services. In 2003 Rob embarked on one of his proudest accomplishments by attending Maine Maritime Academy, graduating in 2006 with a degree in power engineering. Upon graduation he went to work for SNC Lavalin Inc., although he refused to call it work because it was so much fun.
Rob was a devoted husband, father and friend. His greatest pleasure was surrounding himself with the people that he cared about. He loved sports, music and his dogs, as well as a great debate.
He is survived by his wife, Gay (Boynton) Dickinson of Millinocket; two sons, Robert Bruce Dickinson of Millinocket and Seth Dickinson and his wife, Andrea, of Hampden; his mother, Joan Dickinson of Millinocket; his mother-in-law, Mary Boynton; three sisters, Rhonda Rumney and her husband, Brian, of New Jersey, Donna Hakes and her husband, Michael, of Millinocket and Diane Everett and her husband, Brent, of Windham; as well as many nieces and nephews. Rob was predeceased by his father, Bob Dickinson.
