Robert A. Madsen ’60

EVERETT, Wash. – Robert A. Madsen passed away at his home in Everett, Wash., on Dec. 11, 2015. He was born in Portland on Oct. 8, 1939, the son of Marshall and Kathleen Madsen of Portland.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lou St. Peter Madsen; son Michael A. Madsen of Seattle, Wash., and daughter Robin L. Madsen and husband Mark Lesyna of Everett; his sisters Marsha Curry and Linda Giggy of Florida; and four grandchildren, Emily and Kris Madsen, and Will and Molly Lesyna, all of Washington State.

Robert was a graduate of Maine Maritime Academy. He sailed with Gulf Oil right out of the Academy and became one of the lead port engineers before going into business for himself in Maine. He was one of the prior owners of Seacoast Ocean Services, Park Street Townhouses, and Saddleback Mountain.

He and Mary Lou retired in their mid-40s and sailed the Caribbean for seven years. Sailing and skiing was always a part of his life. They moved to Washington State eight years ago to be a part of their grandchildren’s lives.
