Richard “Dick” Louis Caron ’56

BANGOR – Richard “Dick” Louis Caron, 78, of Old Town, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, after a long battle with pulmonary fibrosis. The youngest son of Jean and Mary (Belva) Beaulieu Caron, he was born March 21, 1934, in Old Town.He was raised in Guilford, graduated from Piscataquis Community High School, class of 1953, went on to graduate from Maine Maritime Academy, and then served in the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marines. He spent the remainder of his career as an engineer for Norwalk Hospital, Norwalk, Conn., and St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor. After he retired he moved to the family cottage on Pushaw Lake in Old Town.

He was predeceased by his parents; a brother, Lawrence “Joe” Caron; two sisters, Evelyn Bickford and Joyce Burt; and his faithful friend, Peepee. He is survived by his son, Joseph Caron and his wife, Jody, of Bradley; his daughter, Cynthia Terrell of Georgia; his daughter, Diane Caron and her husband, Eddie Ballway, of Massachusetts; four grandchildren, Matthew Levesque, Deshay Terrell, Vanessa Caron and Allyson Caron; and two great-grandchildren, Kyle and Alethia Levesque. He is also survived by his companion and best friend, Gloria Brown; his sister, Elaine Upton; and sister-in-law, Joan Caron.

Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation 10-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, with a memorial service and light luncheon afterward.
