Philip E. Thibodeau ’65
Phippsburg – Philip E. Thibodeau Jr., age 70, formerly of Rumford, passed away on May 23, 2014 at Androscoggin Hospice in Auburn, with his children by his side.
He was born September 13, 1943 in Rumford. He graduated from Stevens High School in 1961, and earned a B.S. in Engineering from Maine Maritime Academy in 1965. From 1965-1970, he sailed the world as a merchant marine, including Vietnam during the war. He then owned and operated Star Taxi in Rumford, before working as a Mechanical Project Engineer at the Rumford Mill, retiring in 2002 after 21 years. An avid and successful deer hunter, Phil loved fishing, golf, and the outdoors. During off seasons, he kept busy with carpentry, wood working and home improvement projects. He was a good father who was always willing to help.
He is survived by his daughter, Deanna Kersey and her husband Patrick of Dixfield; his son, Dave Thibodeau, of California; four brothers: Brad and his wife Elissa of Andover, Dale and his wife Patty of Portville, NY, Mike and his wife Louanne of Rumford Center, Richard and his wife Lise of Worcester, VT; three sisters: Lou Ann Thibodeau and companion Del Johnston of Gardiner, Debbie Peale and husband Rob of Readfield, and Mary Ann McCall of Northfield, NH.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Philip E. Thibodeau Sr. and Louetta Bernard Thibodeau of Roxbury Pond.
