Peter D. Jordan ’71

WINDHAM – Peter D. Jordan, 67, of Windham, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016. He was born Nov. 23, 1948. The son of Robert and Priscilla (Roberts) Jordan, he grew up in Mexico, Maine, and graduated from Mexico High School in 1967. In 1971, Peter graduated from Maine Maritime Academy and went on to serve 11 years in the Naval Reserves and 33 years in the Merchant Marines. He rose to the rank of Chief Engineer, holding a chief’s license in motor and steam, any horsepower.

Peter sailed on the Great Lakes, overseas, and briefly taught at the Maine Maritime Academy. He then worked for the Delta Queen Steamboat Company until his retirement. After retirement, he served as a consultant for private vessel owners, and was instrumental in the restoration of the steam yacht, Cangarda.

Peter is survived by his wife of 46 years Carolyn Jordan; children Wendy Jordan, Melissa Jordan and her husband, Joseph, Elizabeth Jordan, and Jacob Jordan and his wife, Alison; granddaughter Lina Jordan; and siblings Hannah White and David Jordan.
