Michael C. Davidson ’88

Michael C. Davidson ’88 was lost at sea October 1, 2015 sailing as Master aboard the SS El Faro off the Crooked Islands, Bahamas during Hurricane Joaquin. Michael began preparing for his career as captain at Casco Bay Lines before attending MMA where he received his BS in marine transportation with a management minor. He had great pride and love of the Academy where he was a member of the varsity football team and the Propeller Club. While sailing for several different companies, Michael earned his Unlimited Master’s license and his Prince William Sound pilotage. Michael was known for his infectious smile, outgoing demeanor and generous, meticulous and hard work ethic. His favorite place to be was at his home in Windham, Maine with his wife and two daughters who adored him. He was also an avid outdoorsman and registered Maine guide in both hunting and fishing.
