Lawrence R. Beal ’65

North Port, FL, and Tenants Harbor, ME – Lawrence R Beal, 71, died at home in Florida on November 11, 2014, following an 18-month battle with esophageal cancer.
Born in Framingham, MA, June 26, 1943, Larry grew up in Dover,MA, and attended Needham High School.  Following graduation from Maine Maritime Academy, Larry shipped for several years before taking various engineering positions with Stone and Webster Engineering, Boston, MA, Hawaiian Electric, Honolulu, HI, and Steamco in Jacksonville, FL.  After 18 years with Siemens Energy in Orlando, FL, Larry retired in January 2014 as a Project Manager, a job in which he took great pride and satisfaction.
Larry enjoyed playing golf and tennis when he wasn’t working on his manicured properties, a true passion.  Following retirement, he spent his first full summer at home in Maine before moving to North Port, FL, in September where he intended to relax, play golf, and enjoy new acitivities.  Larry never met a stranger.
Larry is survived by his wife, Susan, his daughter, Alysun Caldwell (Marc), his step-son, Jim Lloyd (Kim) and five grandchildren.  He is also survived by his parents, Robert W Beal (Phyllis) and Geraldine F Beal, as well as four brothers, Wes, Dana, Brad and Steve and their families.
A memorial celebration is planned for 1:00 pm on June 28, 2015, at the Beal home in Tenants Harbor, ME.  All are invited.  He requested that his ashes be scattered at sea.
