Kenneth M. Thoens ’62

Kenneth M. Thoens, 72, of Howell Township died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2014 at MediCenter of Neptune City. Mr. Thoens was born in Jersey City. He served in the U. S. Merchant Marine Service and the U.S. Naval Reserves. Mr. Thoens was a member of the United Methodist Church of Milltown. He was a member of the Fair Haven Sailing Club, Barnegat Bay Association, Maine Maritime Academy Alumni Association, and was a dedicated member of AA since 1989 which helped change his life and the lives of many others.Surviving are his daughter, Jenine M. Thoens-Tagliaferro and a son-in-law, Mark Tagliaferro; his former wife, Elfriede Cackowski; two brothers, John Thoens and his wife Mariam and Thomas Thoens and his wife Linda; his niece, Jennifer Thoens; two nephews, Jeffrey and Jonathan Thoens; and a granddaughter, Sienna Tagliaferro.Relatives and friends may gather at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Friday at 3:45 p.m. A memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 4:00 p.m. – See more at: Legacy.com Kenneth Thoens
