John Mckinnon ’78

BANGOR – John Lewis McKinnon Jr., 53, sadly passed away Aug. 8, 2009, at a local hospital. He was born Oct. 22, 1955, in Bangor, son of John Lewis and Mary Louise (White) McKinnon. John was a graduate of Bangor High School, Class of 1974, a 1978 graduate of Maine Maritime Academy and served in the Merchant Marine. He was a well-known real estate agent for Realty of Maine and the owner of Phoenix Appraisal of Bangor. John enjoyed sailing, flying and cooking. Surviving are his mother and stepfather, Mary L. McKinnon Douglass and Harvey Douglass of Florida; two sisters, Virginia Jackson of Florida and Gail Clark and her husband, Kenneth, of Bangor; one brother, David McKinnon and his wife, Candy, of Bangor; a special niece and nephew, Vicki Lingley of Glenburn and Kenny Clark of Bangor; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and his faithful companion, Misty. John will be sadly missed by Pamela, Heather, Michael, Daniel, Olivia and Malachi Cohen. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held noon Friday, Aug. 14, with the Rev. Keven Newcomb officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments immediately after the service Friday at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor.
