John B. Halley ’57
John “Jack” Halley, 81, of Millinocket, Maine, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at Colonial Healthcare in Lincoln, Maine.
Jack was born in Millinocket on May 4, 1936, to Richard and Marie Halley.
In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his sister, Linda Beach and her husband, Kenny.
Jack enjoyed his boyhood years in his hometown of Millinocket, Maine. After graduating from Sterns High School he was accepted at Maine Maritime Academy and graduated to become a Merchant Marine. Once he started his family, he moved to Connecticut and was employed at Electric Boat. As Chief Refueling Engineer, he was instrumental in the installation of nuclear reactors in Trident submarines.
The day after his retirement he returned to his beloved hometown, where he rebuilt a camp on Ambajejus Lake. His life passion was hunting and fishing, and he was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.
Jack is survived by his daughter, Jan Marie Halley-DeStefano and her husband, Eric; his son, Kevin Brooke Halley along with his wife, Sharon; and his godchild, Brinn M. George; as well as his cousins, who reside in Millinocket, Sally Murch and Omar and Euretta Bean.
Remember Jack’s spirit when you hear a country song, smell the morning dew or walk the forest trails. Embrace the Jack we loved and keep him close in your hearts.
