John A. Grard ’75

John Grard, 64, of Winslow, Maine, Merrimack, NH, and Sebring, Fla., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at his home in Florida. John was born on Feb. 20, 1952, and was the only son of the late Fred and Mary (Collins) Grard. He married his wife Cathy on August 9, 1975.

John was a graduate of Lawrence High School in Fairfield and Maine Maritime Academy. He was a marine engineer, sailing on the Great Lakes for most of his career. John was a very kind and generous man who loved to garden, hunt and fish. What he loved most was spending time with his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nicholas.

John is survived by his wife, Cathy (Hanscom); his daughter, Jennifer, son-in-law Michael; and his two grandchildren. He is survived by two siblings. John is also survived by many loving cousins and friends, with whom he enjoyed spending time.

A memorial service will be held in Merrimack, NH on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 9:00 a.m.at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 16 Baboosic Lake Road.
