James A. Beal ’65

Jim Beal of Highland, Michigan died on January 27, 2017.  After graduating from Falmouth High School in 1961, he went on to graduate from MMA.  He was commissioned into the Navy upon graduation and retired from the Naval Reserve after 26 years as a Captain.   Upon graduation from MMA, he sailed for Gulf Oil Corporation before coming ashore in 1968.  He and his wife, Nancy, moved to Michigan in 1969.

Jim worked in the automotive industry in sales, program, and account management until his retirement in 2005.

Jim enjoyed singing at his church and in a Community Chorus.  He was an 18 year member of the Highland Township Planning Commission.  In his later years, he especially enjoyed his volunteer work with the Beaumont Hospital Kidney Peer Mentor Group.  He always enjoyed seeing fellow alumni when we would get back to Maine for reunions.  He is survived by Nancy and son, James II.
