Gordon E. Robbins ’46

TRENTON – Gordon E. Robbins passed away peacefully Jan. 28, 2013, with family by his side. He was born Oct. 5, 1926, in McKinley, to Jay and Georgia (Ray) Robbins.

After graduating from Cony High School, Augusta, Gordon attended Maine Maritime Academy earning certification as an engineer. He spent many years working as a lobster fisherman in Bass Harbor and later became a registered Maine guide. Gordon enjoyed lobstering, hunting, working in the woods and being the engineer on the “Sunbeam” for Maine Seacoast Mission. He was a member of Knights of Pythias, Mount Desert Lodge, Anah Temple Shrine, Lobster Boat Unit and was a volunteer firefighter for Bass Harbor Fire Department.

Gordon was predeceased by his parents, Jay and Georgia Robbins. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Marilyn Robbins; children, Keith G. Robbins and wife, Nancy, of Hancock, Judy Robbins and friend, Jon Carter, of Mount Desert, and Jay Robbins and wife, Laurel, of Mount Desert; sister, Carol Wills and husband, Frank; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; dog and best friend, Missy; as well as many nieces and nephews.
