Edwin L. McNelly ’68

Edwin L. McNelly died unexpectedly in Dyer Brook on June 15, 2014. He was born Dec. 29, 1946 in Houlton, son of Harold E. and Mabel (Lilley) McNelly.

Edwin grew up in Dyer Brook and was a graduate of Ricker Classical Institute in 1964 and Maine Maritime Academy in 1968. Edwin live in Westbrook, Virginia, California and Center Conway, NH, while employed by MEBA 2 as an engineer working for various shipping concerns. He started his career as a 3rd engineer and retired as a chief engineer.

He was active in the zoning board and was a Boy Scout leader in Lee, N.H. He was a member of the Oakfield Historical Society, the Smoky Haulers Snowmobile Club, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation; and was an intensive genealogist. He eventually settled in Lee, NH.

He is survived by his sons, Erin and Kelly McNelly of Manchester NH and Devin McNelly of Portsmouth NH; as well as the mother of his children, Deborah (White) McNelly of Raymond, NH; three adoring grandchildren, Olivia, Taylor and Connor of Manchester, NH; brothers, Leslie and Donna McNelly of Bailey Island and Glenn and Margaret of Island Falls; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves his companion, Dawg and several special friends, the weekly poker crew, Russ, John, Billy and David and Craig.
