Edward P. Sullivan ’61

Edward P. “Ted” Sullivan, age 76, of Essex passed away on Friday evening, July 1, 2016 at the Shoreline Medical Center in Westbrook.

Ted was the beloved husband of Kathleen “Kathy” (Rogerson) Sullivan.

Ted was born on April 13, 1940 in Norwood, Massachusetts the son of Edward P. and Gertrude (Foran) Sullivan. He was raised in Norwood and was a graduate of Norwood High School and went on to the Maine Maritime Academy where he earned his degree in mechanical engineering.

Ted has been a resident of Essex since 1965 and in that same year established Sullivan Paving Company. He retired in 2005 and the business continues to be family owned and operated.

Ted enjoyed cooking and entertaining and he was an avid fisherman and golfer. Ted was member of the Westbrook Lodge of Elks and the Tide Runners. Ted will be remembered by many as a true leader, role model and mentor.

Besides his wife Kathy he leaves his children, Frank Jay Sullivan, of Unionville, Kari Beth Sullivan, (Norman) of Middletown, Roger Sullivan, (Lara) of Moodus, Eric Sullivan, (Michelle) of Ivoryton, David Acheychek, of Essex, and Edward “Ted” Sullivan, of Westbrook. He also is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Brittany, Jenna, Madden, Griffin, Sidney, Dylan and Grant. Ted also leaves his sister, Eileen Keohane, of Norwood.

Visitation will be held at the Robinson, Wright & Weymer Funeral Home, 34 Main Street in Centerbrook on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 14 Prospect Street in Essex at 11:00AM. Interment will be privately held by the family.
