Edmond J. Beaulieu ’45
PORTLAND — Edmond J. Beaulieu passed peacefully on May 23, 2014, with his family at his side in Portland.
He was born in Portland, the son of Edmond Sr. and Amelia (Boutin) on Nov. 1, 1925. He graduated from Deering High School and Maine Maritime Academy. He then joined his father in business at Springers’ Jewelers and grew the business to three locations adding Portsmouth, N.H., and Bath.
He was a member of the American Gem Society attaining his Registered Jewelers Certification. He was highly regarded in the jewelry business for his integrity and hard work. Many have referred to him as ‘the nicest guy you could ever meet.’ He was a member of Kiwanis Club, The Knights of Columbus, The Cumberland Club, Portland Country Club and The Woodlands Club.
Many good memories were made with family at Sebago Lake and Pleasant Mt. He was also an avid golfer, a great putter and had one ace. His sense of humor was legendary. Ed and Betty enjoyed a rich life with family and friends spending many winters in Vero Beach, Fla.
He was predeceased by his parents; and three sisters. He leaves the love of his life, Betty (Robinson) whom he married in 1948; his four children and spouses, Richard (Nancy), Margaret Neilson (Dr. Robert), Mary Palman (Dr. Gary), and Julie Joyce (Richard); grandchildren, Lilly Mullen (John), Zoe Beaulieu, Edmond J. III, Amelia Knowles (Andrew), Dr. Michael Neilson (Carolyn), Hannah Neilson, Kate Landry (Tim), Johnathan Palman (Kate), Richard III, Madeleine, and Isabella Joyce; and great-grandchildren, Gabe and Norah Landry, Penelope and Elizabeth Knowles, Jack Taylor and Mickey Mullen.
The family would like to thank Dr. Daniel Merson, Fallbrook Woods, and VNA Hospice for their superior care of Ed and their kindness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Holy Martyrs, 266 Foreside Rd., Falmouth. Family and friends are also invited to a celebration of life following the Mass from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at The Portland Country Club, 11 Foreside Rd., Falmouth.
