Earl C. Kidder ’46

AUBURN – Earl C. Kidder, 92, of Auburn passed away with his loving family by his side on Jan. 31, 2019. He was born on Aug. 3, 1926, in Mexico, Maine. A son of the late Elwood and Ethel (Andrews) Kidder. He was educated in Mexico schools and entered Maine Maritime Academy in Castine after high school. He married Barbara J. Blocker of Rochester, New York in 1952.

Earl worked for Mobil Oil, was owner of Rita Personnel, and worked at Bancroft and Martin, Stauffer Chemicals and held many supervisory positions as a constructional engineer. He served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

During his working years he liked spending time at his camp in Winthrop on Maranacook Lake.

He enjoyed dancing to big band music. He was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling to New Jersey to visit family. Wednesday evenings were spent at Cole Farms eating chicken pot pie.

He is survived by his five children, Richard E. Kidder Sr., of Austin, Texas, Karen Kidder of Lewiston, Carol Doucette and husband, Ronald Doucette of New Gloucester, Kathy Doucette and husband, Wallace Doucette Jr. of Auburn, and Robin Kidder of Auburn, Maine. He also had many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, George; and two sisters, Marguerite Fuller and Ruth Warga.
