Douglas L. Peters ’97

Douglas L. Peters Jr., 35, of Two Rivers, Wis., died Jan. 30, 2011, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Doug was born July 3, 1975, in Rockland, Maine, son of Shelley (Chase) Bay and the late Douglas L. Peters Sr. In 1997 he graduated from Maine Maritime Academy in Castine with a bachelor of science degree in power engineering technology. On Aug. 24, 2002, he married Amy Klein at St. Luke Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Doug was employed at Point Beach Nuclear Plant as a mechanic electrician. Doug was a gifted athlete and enjoyed sports but his passion was spending time with his family and friends. He always had a unique way of making those around him feel special. All those who got to know him were truly honored and will forever be changed.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Peters of Two Rivers; two daughters who he adored, Ella and Grace Peters, both at home; his mother, Shelley Bay of Two Rivers; his stepfather, Bernard Williams of Canaan; one sister, Melissa Healey and special friend Jason French of Newmarket, N.H.; one brother and sister-in-law, Jarrod (Jodi) Williams of Brewer; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Ronald and Jan Klein of Two Rivers; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Heather Rowe of Dallas, Texas, Lynn (David) Paplham of Mishicot, Wis., and Kory (Kari) Klein and Kevin (Bridgett) Klein, both of Two Rivers; his grandfather and grandmother-in-law, Darwin and Hilda Klein of Two Rivers; his grandmother-in-law, Dorothy Pamperin of Green Bay, Wis.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Douglas Peters Sr.; his paternal grandparents, Donald and Myrtle Peters; his maternal grandmother, Dora Chase; and his grandfather-in-law, Arnold Pamperin.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Yetter and staff at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Care Center and the Aurora VNA Hospice for the compassionate care shown to Doug and his family. A special thank you also to the family, friends and community for their love and support during his two-year fight. It was through this love and support that Doug was able to remain remarkably strong in his faith and eternally optimistic throughout his courageous battle against brain cancer.
