Dennis L. Barker ’85

Dennis L. Barker, 52, of Hebron passed away Sunday, December 20, 2015 at his home following a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Lewiston on February 16, 1963 the son of Bradley and Judith Barker of Greene until the age of 9 then the family moved to Bethel where Dennis graduated from Telstar Regional in 1981, then furthered his education at Maine Maritime Academy, graduating in 1985.

He worked as a lubrication engineer for Exxon Mobil several years in New York, then became a Global Senior Project Engineer manager for GL & V Company in N.H. His passion for learning more led him into owning his own business of White Mountain Tree Service as a licensed arborist along with owning and operating an apple orchard with his wife Jan, “Hemingway Orchards”. His latest employment was with “Rock Tenn Missisquoi Mill” in Vermont as a Senior Plant Engineer.

Dennis was a member of the Evening Star Masonic Lodge in Buckfield and the Shriners. He had a great passion for outdoors, photography of moose, fly fishing, boating, Kubota tractors, tractor shows, auctions and Stihl chainsaws. He is survived by soulmate and wife Jan of Hebron; his daughter Desneige and her fiancé Michael and grandson Oliver of Altamonte Springs, FL.; his mother Judith Barker of Bethel; his brother Donald and wife Dawn of Kingston, N.H.; his sister Deborah of South Paris; and his brother Daniel of Auburn; seven nieces, Darcy, Lauren, Destiny, Rachel, Danielle, Emily and Bethany. He was predeceased by his father, Bradley Barker. Great friends Elmer and Buster Whiting were considered family to Dennis. His “Little Daisy May” was his prize Shihtzu, along with his three six-year-old pet piggy’s, Louise, Elizabeth and Lorraine. My Dennis L. Barker had a “Heart of Gold.”

Barker-Died in Hebron December 20, 2015. Dennis L. Barker, 52, of Hebron. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 9 at 11 a.m. at Chandler Funeral Homes & Cremation Service, 45 Main Street, South Paris with interment in the spring at Riverside Cemetery in Bethel.
