Bernard A. Bartlett ’65

Bernard A. Bartlett, of Nantucket, passed away peacefully at his home on October 17, 2018.  Beloved husband of Helene (Voigt) Bartlett for 52 years, loving son of Arline (Fisher) and Franklin Bartlett, son-in-law to Doris Voigt, devoted father to Diane Catino and her husband Christopher of Bridgewater, MA, Cheryl Gilbert and her husband Joseph of Tucson, AZ, Susanne Andrade and her husband Joel of Bridgewater, MA.  Cherished Grandfather of Madison, Nicholas, Joseph, Timothy, Sean, Ryan, Jamison, Dylan, and Caroline. Predeceased by his son Robert and his sister Bernice (Bartlett) DeBlieck.

Born on November 5, 1943 in Nantucket, a graduate of Peacham Academy and received a Bachelor’s degree from Maine Maritime Academy.  After serving as a Merchant Marine, he returned to Nantucket to manage and operate Bartlett Plumbing and Heating alongside his father.  After many years in the plumbing business, he made a career change to become the Building Inspector for the Town of Nantucket.

Bernie had a love for Nantucket, spending time on the ocean and tinkering in his garage.  He also greatly enjoyed building and renovating with his family and friends, no matter how big or small the job.  He will be deeply missed.
