Francis “Frank” Tepedino ’58
Major at MMA: Engineering
Employer: Now retired
Where has your career taken you since graduation?
A series of corporate executive positions with General Dynamics; Boeing; Lockheed, Pacific Power & Light; National Steel & Shipbuilding and as House Counsel for FMC Corporation.
Founder/CEO/President (Retired): The Condor Group, a nation-wide consulting company.
Founder/CEO/President (Retired): The La Jolla Institute for Public Speaking.
What is your current title and what are your responsibilities?
I am presently retired. I continued my formal education beyond MMA:
- BS: Industrial Management; Fairleigh Dickinson University, 1963
- Graduate Studies in Finance: Pacific Lutheran University, 1967/1968
- Juris Doctor: University of San Diego, School of Law, 1974
Member of the Bars of California, Oregon, Several US District Courts and the U.S. Supreme Court.
What piece of advice would you give to a student going into your field?
Continue your formal education. Go to Law School. It will open doors that you do not know exist.
Being born poor in the USA is no excuse for not becoming successful! I was born into an impoverished Italian immigrant family with two other sisters. My Father could not speak English and was a “Shoe Shine Boy”. You can “do it” too.
How did the MMA experience prepare you for both your prior positions and your current career focus?
MMA put me on the track for success in life. MMA got me started. I was the first in my extended family to go to college, the first to become a Naval Officer, the first to become a Lawyer, the first to become a Corporate Executive, and the first to found my own nation-wide consulting company.
What are your goals for the future?
To give back to our county and our society what I can, in appreciation for what our country, our society and MMA have done for me.
