Course Duration

This is a 9-hour, fully online course.

Once you complete the course, our system will automatically notify the instructor. They will review your coursework to ensure everything has been completed satisfactorily.

Certification will be issued upon successful completion of all course components. You will receive your certificate by email, and a hard copy will be mailed to you via USPS.

Course Description

Course content will provide the knowledge required for facility and vessel personnel who are assigned specific security duties in connection with either a Facility Security Plan (FSP) or Vessel Security Plan (VSP) to perform their duties per the requirements of the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002, Chapter XI-2 of SOLAS 74 as amended, and/or the IMO ISPS Code, and/or relevant U.S. Coast Guard regulations contained in 33 CFR Chapter 1 Subchapter H.

Course Access & Online Learning

Upon registration, students will receive a confirmation email with login details for Canvas, Maine Maritime Academy’s online learning platform.

  • The course is self-paced.

  • Modules must be completed in sequence, with a quiz following each module.

  • Please allow up to 2 hours for the course to appear on your Canvas dashboard after registration.

Returning students can log in using their existing Canvas credentials.

MMA alumni who previously used Canvas as undergraduates will receive a new Canvas account for their CPMD courses.

 

Retake Policy

If you don’t pass the exam on your first attempt, you may retake it. Please contact the instructor to request a second attempt.

U.S. Coast Guard Approval
The course meets the mandatory minimum requirements for knowledge, understanding and proficiency in Table A-VI/6 of the STCW Code and the mandatory training requirements in 33 CFR Part 104 and 105.
