Course Duration

1.5 days  |   Bucksport campus

With Basic Training:  4 days | Bucksport and Castine Campuses

Course Description
This course is designed for mariners who:

• Have been previously certified in Advanced Fire Fighting

• Have less than one year of sea time in the past five years

• Are physically able to meet the STCW certification requirements

Course Includes:

• Hands-on firefighting exercises

• Live burn training scenarios

• Review of key concepts and best practices

Requirements for Students:

• A current and valid Advanced Training (ADV) endorsement

• Ability to speak and understand English

• Good physical condition for practical skills exercises

Important Notes:

• NFPA regulations require students to be clean-shaven for SCBA use (mustaches are permitted)

• Bring an extra set of clothes for after the live burn

USCG Approval
Applicants who successfully complete the course will satisfy the Advanced Fire Fighting Refresher requirements of:

• Section A-VI/3 and Table A-VI/3 of the STCW Code (as amended 2010)

• 46 CFR 11.201(h)(1) and 11.303(e)
