Course Description

This course is for individuals who have not previously completed Personal Survival Techniques. It covers proper use of USCG-approved lifesaving equipment, water survival skills, rescue procedures by boat and helicopter, and developing a personal survival strategy. Participants must complete a written exam and a practical assessment in the Academy’s indoor pool.

Location
The class will be held at the Smith Alexander Phys Ed. Building in the Ed Biggie Classroom and Bok Pool on the Maine Maritime Academy campus, located at 1 Pleasant St, Castine, ME 04420.

Please bring the following items:

• Clean coveralls or a set of clothes for the water (no shoes required)
• Swimsuit
• Towel
• Plastic bag for wet items
